Welcome

WHY IS THERE A PERC?
We all know that state funding alone isn't going to provide Parkmead Elementary with the full range of programs that our kids need for a well-rounded education. That's where PERC comes in.

PERC, or Parkmead Education Resources Council, is a nonprofit organization, run by parent volunteers who coordinate fundraising and set broad spending goals, aligned with the site plan, for the entire school. PERC raises money for both programs housed on the Parkmead campus, the Parkmead Community School (PCS) and the Parkmead Active Learning School, (PALS). PERC also raises money for campus-wide programs.

PERC is a 501(c)(3) organization, gifts to which are deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. PERC's Tax ID number is 61-1459498. All proceeds go to Parkmead Education Resources Council (PERC), the whole-school organization that raises money for campus-wide programs at Parkmead Elementary.

WHO IS ON PERC?
PERC was formed by the parent boards of the two programs, PCS's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and PALS's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). PERC's board of directors consists of the presidents of both the PTA and PTO, as well as a treasurer and a volunteer coordinator.  Click here for a list of current board members.  In recent years, PERC funds salaries of Parkmead's science and tech specialists, provides materials, supplies, and library books, and supports special school events and projects.

PERC's Strategy for 2011-12
For the 2011-12 year, PERC has an ambitious goal to raise $120,000. We limit fundraising activities to just four events. That's right, just four.  With just four events, we devote more time, attention, and resources to each event, making sure each is well managed, well executed, profitable, and above all, fun for everyone involved. We also want to save parents the feeling that they're constantly being asked to buy something or write out a check to help benefit the school. This year, there will be just four activities to keep track of and plan for.
